Social Secretary

Paul (aka ‘Elvis’) joined SURG in May 2002, and met his wife Leanne through the group. He enjoys challenging long-distance walks and has 'summited' many of the highest mountains in the British Isles - but still has lots more to tick off! As well as leading his popular 'Ale Trails', walks and weekends away, Paul served on the committee as Social Secretary from 2004-2006, and as Treasurer in 2007-2008.

As Social Secretary, Paul organises SURG’s social diary and coordinates trips away. His role is to:

• Encourage members to run social events.
• Compile the quarterly social programme, working with the Walks Secretary to publish the programme.
• Support members organising major social events and trips away, in particular offering help with budgetting.

You’d make a good Social Secretary if you’re:

• Keen to develop the social side of SURG.
• A good communicator who can encourage members to run trips and other events.

Fellow committee members and members who have organised trips may be able to offer support and guidance.
